Undissolved Pill in Colon

Pill in the Colon
Here is a photo taken in the large intestine that shows a prescription tablet that never disolved as it made its passage through the digestive system. Normally, this tablet would have been broken apart in the stomach and absorbed by the small intestine. But the preparation for colonoscopy involves taking a large volume of laxative solution which often carries pills rapidly down the digestive passage before they can be absorbed.
