Liver "Shadow"

Liver Shadow
Liver Shadow Through Colon Wall

This photo demonstrates how clearly your doctor can see inside your colon during a colonoscopy exam. Your liver lies in the right side of your abdomen. Part of your colon lies in this same area and the two actually touch. In this photos, you can actually see the blue triangular shadow of the liver which can be seen through the semi-transparent colon wall. This is one of the landmarks that your doctor might use to follow his progression during colonoscopy.
